The Arc of Grays Harbor and The Domestic Violence Center of Grays Harbor are excited to offer our Healthy Relationships Program. This program was developed by The Arc of Spokane and has been used by various Arcs throughout Washington State. It is intended to teach adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities about healthy and safe relationships of all kinds (including friendships, acquaintances, caregiver/professional relationships, and romantic relationships). This curriculum does NOT cover sexual health or education and is primarily focused on teaching emotional and physical safety and health in relationships.
- Elements of a healthy relationship
- Recognizing types of relationships
- Personal boundaries and consent
- Recognizing unhealthy and abusive relationships
We teach people the skills they need to have healthy and thriving relationships within their communities. Our curriculum is tailored to the needs of our participants and we adapt to participant's unique learning styles. Education about healthy relationships helps give people practical skills to help them establish and respect boundaries so that they can have safe and healthy relationships with family, friends, co-workers, helpers, and significant others.
This is a 10 week, hour-long program offered over Zoom to adults over 18 years of age. Our current cohort will run from 3/3/21 through 5/5/21, Wednesdays from 2:20-3:30 over Zoom.
