Multicultural Services for Individuals with IDD and Their Families .

Bridging the Language Gap

t The Arc of Grays Harbor, we are committed to providing inclusive and comprehensive services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. We understand that language should never be a barrier to accessing the support and resources that are essential for a thriving community. That's why we are proud to offer bilingual services in English and Spanish.

Our bilingual services encompass a range of important programs and initiatives. One of our core offerings is information and referrals, where we provide valuable guidance and connect individuals and families with the appropriate services and resources tailored to their specific needs. Our multicultural coordinator Estela Aguilar can provide services in English and Spanish, ensuring that language is not a barrier when seeking information and support.

Community Engagement is another vital aspect of our bilingual services. Through our Community Engagement program, we promote inclusion and encourage participation in social and recreational activities. By bridging the language gap, we strive to create a supportive network that celebrates diversity and ensures that all individuals can fully engage in community life.

Parent to Parent support is also an integral part of our services. We understand that navigating the challenges of raising a child with IDD can be overwhelming. Our bilingual team provides a supportive environment where parents can connect with one another, share experiences, and find valuable guidance. Through the Parent to Parent program, families receive emotional support, practical advice, and access to relevant resources, all in their preferred language.

Additionally, we offer assistance with applications for disability services, such as the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). Our bilingual coordinator understands the complexities of these processes and guides individuals and families through the application and eligibility requirements. We strive to make the process as accessible and seamless as possible, ensuring that language is never a barrier.

At The Arc of Grays Harbor, we are proud to provide bilingual services that empower individuals with IDD and their families. We believe in creating an inclusive and supportive community where language is never a barrier to accessing vital resources and support.
